Frequently Asked Questions

How can I set up

an appointment?

All counseling is done by appointment only.  We recommend that you begin by reviewing the counselor descriptions on the Staff page.  If you see a counselor that you think could be a good fit for your needs and schedule, you're welcome to contact that counselor directly to seek more information or ask questions.  You can also request an appointment, ask questions, or get additional information by contacting us through the submission form on the Home page.

When you contact us, please be prepared to provide some general information (as much as you're comfortable sharing) regarding the reasons for seeking counseling, as well as your availability for counseling appointments.  This information helps us determine if NWCC has a counselor who's a good fit for your needs and schedule.  If NWCC doesn't have someone who's a good fit for your needs or availability, we can provide you with referrals to other trusted providers.

What are your

hours/availability?

NWCC offers appointments Monday through Saturday, including limited evening appointments.  While NWCC recommends in-person sessions as much as possible, virtual sessions can also be an option (for Arizona residents only).

Please note that hours and availability vary by counselor (you can view each counselor's availability on Our Team page).

What are

your fees?

The fee for individual counseling is $100-120 per 55-minute session, dependent upon your household income.  The fee for couples/group counseling (more than one client) is $120.

NWCC is happy to work with churches or other "3rd-party" providers that want to provide financial support to a client.  In these cases, please have the person or organization that is providing financial assistance contact NWCC (or the counselor you will be working with) to coordinate the details.

 Do you accept insurance?

NWCC does not accept insurance, so all fees must be paid directly by the client. However, you are welcome to contact your insurance company to ask if they provide "out-of-network" coverage for counseling services.  If so, you may be able to submit your receipts from NWCC and receive reimbursement for a portion or percentage of the amount you spend on counseling services.  Please refer to your insurance plan and contact your provider for details.

Please let your counselor know if you plan on seeking reimbursement through insurance.  NWCC will be happy to provide you with receipts (which often require CPT and/or DSM codes), and any other documentation that may be required by the insurance company.

Please note that even if you have insurance coverage, there is no guarantee your insurance company will pay for counseling services.  Not all counseling services (or diagnoses) are "reimbursable" by insurance companies.  For example, general marital or relationship counseling is often not covered, unless there is a specific/diagnosable mental health issue.

Finally, please note that insurance companies usually require a diagnosis code to be considered for coverage/reimbursement.  When provided to your insurance company, these mental health diagnoses can become a permanent part of your medical/health record.  Please contact us (or talk to your counselor) if you have any questions.

How long will it take

to get scheduled?

How often will

I need to come?

The more flexible you can be, the easier it will be to get an appointment quickly. Most people want late-afternoon or evening appointments, so the demand for these appointments is high.

Frequency of counseling will need to be determined by you and your counselor.  On average, most clients schedule appointments weekly or bi-weekly (every-other-week).  Many clients come more frequently when starting the counseling process, then add more time between sessions as they begin to see positive changes and results.

What is faith-based or Christian counseling?

NWCC can provide professional counseling services from a Christian/Biblical worldview.  All of NWCC's counselors are actively engaged in their Christian faith, and are committed to being able to provide professional counseling services that are aligned with Biblical truth and teaching.  The majority of NWCC's clients are practicing Christians who want their faith and spiritual beliefs to be considered and respected throughout the counseling process.

Regardless of your spiritual beliefs, however, all clients will be treated with care and respect at NWCC.  While NWCC's counselors are experienced in providing therapeutic services that are aligned and integrated with Christian theology and teaching, this is always upon request by the client, and clients always have the right to decline a faith-based approach.

If you have any questions or concerns about Christian or faith-based counseling, please contact us and we'll be happy to help you determine whether NWCC is the best fit for your needs.  If not, we can help provide referral options to other trusted providers.
